From the battlefront

The Road to Victory battle re-enactment was slightly different this year, bigger and much better with air power and ‘blow your mind’ pyrotechnics by Rich’s Incredible Pyro. It all started with the 101st Airborne holding a small French village until German forces moved in with larger force and more fire power. But it didn’t take very long to see the US forces regroup, bringing in mortars, heavy armor and massive amounts of fire power regaining control of the village and pushing back the Germans for Victory.

With the smell of gun powder and battle worn soldiers now all in the past we have already started the task of looking forward and planning for the show in 2007. But not without taking a little time to recall the highlights and bask in the glory of a battle won. We have received a great deal of positive feed back from both the attendees and the re-enactors, and judging from the number of photos submitted of the pyro displays it would seem that everybody loves to see something blow up! Other improvements to the re-enactment included a larger set which recreated the charm of a French village square. There were also tank stops and barbed wire fences, barrels and wooden wagons.

Just as it takes an army of men to go to battle it takes an army of volunteers to have a re-enactment. Wings ‘N Wheels is luck to have a phenomenal team that works year round to pull this together and I am honored to have worked beside them and look forward to working with them again for 2007.
